Come and join us!

We are looking for a bioinformatician to help us develop workflows dedicated to predicting antimicrobials from novel bacterial genomes.

We are a multi-disciplinary team that bring skills in many areas from across the world. We are funded by some of the biggest biotech angels in Europe including Peder Holk Nielsen (Former CEO of Novozymes), Jonathan Milner (Founder of Abcam) and Hugh Grant (last CEO of Monsanto).

In this role you will join our R&D team in improving pipelines for prioritising the bacterial isolates used in our compound screening pipelines. Together this supports our vision to discover solutions to global issues including the discovery of new antibiotics against resistant bacteria and fungicides to support global food security.

You should have:

  • A PhD involving bioinformatic analysis of bacterial genomes (or MSc with 4+ years experience in this field)

  • Experience working with NGS data

  • Strong programming skills (Python)

  • Experience with Illumina and ONT read types

  • Knowledge of R and SQL

  • Experience of writing software in Python

  • Experience with modern software development practices, including version control (GitHub) and continuous integration

  • Experience with cloud computing

Your responsibilities will include a selection of the following:

  • Developing bioinformatics software/pipelines for the prediction of novel antibiotics from bacterial whole genomes

  • Improving annotation software for gene prediction of bacterial whole genomes

  • Testing, developing and integrating novel features to existing working bioinformatics pipelines

  • Producing reports based on the outcome of projects to inform future practices

  • Collaborating with research scientists to determine proper experimental designs for future data procurement
