People Operations Lead

Business and Operations

We are looking for a motivated People and Operations Lead to help guide the growth of our rapidly expanding team.


In this London-based role you will oversee our company’s recruitment strategy and ongoing talent management. You will have the opportunity to shape our company culture and ensure that Bactobio gives its employees the environment they need to succeed. Working closely with our Head of Operations, you will be reviewing, creating and implementing effective processes, policies, and initiatives to help Bactobio retain and develop diverse talent.


Since our foundation in London in 2020, Bactobio has grown to a team of 27 scientists, programmers and operations experts, including 20 PhD-trained scientists. Our Business and Operations unit is responsible for determining the strategic direction of this fast-growing biotechnology company and executing on the internal and external actions required to make this happen. Every individual has a valuable role to play in shaping the company's development.


  • Supporting recruitment cycles from sourcing candidates to employment 

  • Managing all post-offer administration including background screening, employment contracts and visa sponsorships

  • Assessing and reviewing internal HR procedures and company policies 

  • Maintaining and evolving high-quality and consistent onboarding and offboarding processes

  • Training and assisting line managers to understand and effectively implement People policies, procedures and best practice

  • Driving equality, inclusion and diversity as an integral part of the culture of the organisation

  • Working directly with our CEO and Head of Operations to support company operations and strategic initiatives

You should have: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in life sciences, business administration or human resource management 

  • 2+ years experience in HR and operations within a high growth organisation

  • A robust knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations expertise

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with stakeholders at all levels

  • Strong analytical and decision making abilities

  • Qualification in CIPD is preferred but not essential
