We are looking for a Python/SQL developer to help set up software for research scientists and streamline our management of data from newly discovered bacterial species.

We are a multi-disciplinary team that bring skills in many areas from across the world. We are funded by some of the biggest biotech angels in Europe including Peder Holk Nielsen (Former CEO of Novozymes), Jonathan Milner (Founder of Abcam) and Hugh Grant (last CEO of Monsanto).

In this role you will design and develop software for bioinformaticians and research scientists, and help streamline our data collection and accessibility through a GUI. You will have the opportunity to direct and shape digital workflows for all stages of the pipeline in order to maximise and improve our experimental progress.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or greater in Computer Science (or related subject)

  • 2+ years experience in software development

  • Experience managing software development projects


Essential Experience:

  • MySQL

  • Python

  • Cloud computing (OCI/AWS)

  • OS X, Linux and Windows

  • Version control using Git


Ideal experience:

  • R/ R shiny

  • Background in software development for biological systems/bioinformatics

  • Test-driven development

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing software across the whole company pipeline

  • Management of the MySQL database

  • Improving our GUI for research scientists to access our MySQL database

  • Advising on best practices with coding

  • Improving the workflows for inputting data and standardising data formats
