Rahan Nazeer
Microbiology Intern
Rahan holds a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Exeter (2019), where he received the Dean’s Commendation and the Microbiology Society Harry Smith Studentship. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge and was a finalist for the 2024 Microbiology Society Sir Howard Dalton Award. Rahan’s accomplishments include a Gold Prize in iGEM 2017, where his team won Best Applied Design and Best Environmental Project awards.
Before joining Bactobio, Rahan was a Journal Development Editor at Springer Nature, managing biochemistry and cell biology journals, editorial meetings, and relationships with Editors-in-Chief. His prior experience includes a role as a Publishing Assistant at Springer Nature and research internships at the University of Exeter.
Rahan is a Microbiology Intern within the Microbial Generation team, focusing on experimental work, metagenomics and transcriptomics optimisation, and data analysis.
In his free time, he enjoys reading, open water swimming, and visiting galleries.
