Dr Joshua Burns

Scientist

Josh studied for his undergraduate in Biological Sciences, followed by an MSc in Microbial Biotechnology at the University of Birmingham. He then completed a PhD at Robert Gordon University focusing on identifying metabolites produced by Streptomyces. Before starting at Bactobio, Josh worked in Syngenta's microbial fermentation team.


​At Bactobio, Josh works on optimising the production of novel bioactive metabolites from previously unculturable microbes.


​Outside the lab, Josh enjoys playing tennis, hunting for mushrooms, and attempting to get better at guitar.
