Bactobio announces discovery of a novel antibiotic compound active against drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii and other dangerous bacterial pathogens.

Bactobio is building an interdisciplinary team that combines microbiology, chemistry, AI, data science and product development to discover new microbial products with applications in human health, agriculture and environmental sustainability. By integrating laboratory experiments, automation and machine learning into a continuous discovery loop, the company is uncovering novel microbes and compounds while accelerating the path from scientific insight to real-world impact.

Bactobio has identified two novel bio-derived compounds that effectively protect wheat plants against Septoria wheat blotch, including fungicide-resistant strains, demonstrating strong activity both in laboratory tests and greenhouse-grown plants without observed phytotoxicity. This milestone advances Bactobio’s crop protection pipeline and supports the development of new, sustainable disease-control solutions for wheat growers facing increasing resistance and regulatory pressures.
