Katharine Hammond holds a PhD in Biophysics from University College London (2020), where she received the Award for Outstanding Postgraduate Physics Research in Biological Physics. She also has an MSc in Chemistry from the University of Bristol (2015), graduating with the award for best overall performance in her program.
Katharine brings a wealth of experience in scientific research and strategic consulting. Before joining Bactobio, she worked as a Life Sciences Strategy Consultant at L.E.K. Consulting, leading strategy and due diligence projects for clients in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and private equity/venture capital sectors. Prior to consulting, Katharine worked as a Research Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory, focusing on the synthesis and characterisation of novel antimicrobial peptides.
As Product Lead in Bactobio’s Business Development team, Katharine shapes and implements the company’s commercialisation strategy. Her strategic insight and scientific expertise ensure that Bactobio’s products are positioned for maximum impact and growth.
Outside of work, Katharine enjoys running, swimming, hiking, and diving.
