Norman holds a BSc and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Waterloo and McMaster University, respectively, both located in Canada. Norman’s PhD research focused on accelerating genome-driven natural product discovery using protein language models and large-scale genomics data. He has previously worked at two start-up companies employing bioinformatics, metabolomics, and machine/deep learning to discovery natural products with applications in human medicine, infectious disease, and agriculture.

At Bactobio, Norman works within the Bioinformatics & Data Science team to streamline the discovery of new natural products leveraging in-house datasets and bioinformatic & machine learning methods.

Outside of work, Norman enjoys travelling, hiking, cooking, and trying new foods. He has recently developed an interest in birdwatching and wildlife photography.
