Dr Sibyl Batey
Analytical Chemistry Lead
Sibyl completed her Natural Sciences MSci with Joint Honours in Biology & Chemistry at the University of Durham. She went on to study for a PhD at the John Innes Centre (JIC), Norwich, working on the structural characterisation of a protein drug target from Mycobacterium tuberculosis and screening for small molecule inhibitors. She then joined the lab of Prof Barrie Wilkinson at the JIC as a Post-Doc, studying the chemical characterisation, biosynthesis and molecular targets of bacterial specialised metabolites.
At Bactobio, Sibyl works within the Compound Discovery Team, purifying and characterising novel bioactive metabolites.
Outside the lab, Sibyl enjoys travel, experimental cooking and keeping active.
