Dr Tim Rudge

Senior Data Scientist

Tim Rudge holds a PhD in Synthetic Biology (2014) from the University of Cambridge and an MRes in Computer Vision from University College London (2002), where he graduated with distinction. His academic background includes a BEng (Hons) in Mechatronics from the University of Leeds (1998), where he received the Best Graduating Student prize, and a Graduate Certificate in Business (Finance) from Queensland University of Technology (2006).


Tim has extensive experience in synthetic biology, having recently served as a Lecturer at Newcastle University, where he focused on research and teaching. He also held a similar position at Universidad Católica de Chile, broadening his academic and applied synthetic biology expertise.


As a Senior Data Scientist at Bactobio, Tim plays a key role in the Data Science team, where he develops advanced AI and machine learning methods to drive the Bactobio pipeline.


Outside of work, Tim enjoys teaching his kids science, playing guitar, and pursuing his passion for photography.
